Abdul-Malik al-Houthi made the remarks on Sunday evening while delivering a speech on the martyrdom of Ayatollah Khamenei, who was martyred in an Israeli airstrike on his office in Tehran a day earlier.

“By committing this heinous crime, the enemies of the [Islamic] Ummah, namely the United States and the Zionist regime, intended to eliminate the key role of Ayatollah Khamenei in countering their tyranny and foiling their plots,” al-Houthi said while offering condolences to the Iranian people and officials on the Leader’s martyrdom.

He added that the assassination was also aimed at ending Ayatollah Khamenei’s leadership of the Islamic system and undermining his global role in assisting the oppressed.

“The assassination of Ayatollah Khamenei was aimed at eliminating a leader who advocated for the legitimate rights of the Islamic Ummah and its just causes, including the Palestinian issue,” al-Houthi said, adding that it was also intended to shatter the determination and morale of the Iranian Muslim nation and its official institutions.
